Luis Rodolfo nació en La Habana el 4 de noviembre de 1938. Nueve dias después, la familia decidió trasladarse a San Juan y Martínez, en Pinar del Río, a la casa de los abuelos paternos de Luisito, cita en la calle «Libertad» de dicho municipio, lugar donde nace Sergio Enrique el 8 de Enero de 1940.

Los Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca fueron vilmente asesinados por miembros de la dictadura el 13 de agosto de 1957 en San Juan y Martínez, día en el que Pinar del Río perdió futuros actores decisivos del porvenir Revolucionario cubano.
